Des Moines, IA (KICD) — Earlier today on KICD Farm News we reported on legislation that passed the Iowa House yesterday that would mandate those carbon pipeline companies get 90 percent cooperation from landowners before eminent domain could be used to force the other 10 percent to allow the pipelines to cross their land.
The legislation passed overwhelmingly 73 to 20 with Republicans and Democrats on both sides.
Four of the five state representatives from the KICD Broadcast area voted for the measure: John Wills, Henry Stone, Mike Sexton, and Zach Dieken. Megan Jones from Sioux Center abstained from the vote, citing a possible conflict of interest since one or more of the pipelines might go through her farm.
