Spencer, IA (KICD)– A warm push to the end of August helped get local numbers above normal for the entire month.
State Climatologist Justin Glisan says the nearly two degrees above normal for Spencer and Northwest Iowa comes despite earlier parts of August at or below average for temperatures.
On the rainfall side, Spencer came in slightly above normal which looks great on paper, but we still have some big deficits to take into account.
The start of September is known as the start of Meteorological Fall, but Mother Nature appears to have not received the message as the month looks to start well above average going through the Labor Day Weekend.
