Spencer, IA (KICD)– The holiday season can be difficult for some families when it comes to remembering those close to us that are no longer around to help celebrate and several area organizations are once again coming together to help ease the pain.

The annual Service of Remembrance is a joint venture between the hospice program at Spencer Hospital, Warner Funeral Home, Abben Cancer Center and area clergy. Hospice volunteer Anita Miller tells us this year’s service will look at a couple of different aspects to help with grief whether it be new or years old.

Volunteer Kathy Anderson says while invitations are sent out for the service, all are welcome to attend.

This year’s Service of Remembrance will be Monday at 6:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 1212 First Avenue West in Spencer.
