Spencer, IA (KICD)– Thousands of students across Iowa, including locally, will be headed back to the classroom this week which brings safety to mind in several different aspects.

Laura Manwarren is the Safety Director at Spencer Hospital. She says one of the areas parents should be paying attention to is some of what to buy and how to act when school starts.

This school year may also be a bit unique when it comes to some late season heat that could add some extra concern for students in a school with limited or no access to air conditioning.

We will be talking more about getting to school safely whether it be bus or using designated safe routes as move through this week in future newscasts.
