Spencer, IA (KICD)– Changes to the area that will eventually become Spencer Hospital’s new Emergency Department are going to start being visible in the coming weeks and months and that will include a change in traffic flow around the area.

Beginning Monday, May 1st, a portion of East 11th Street off of Grand Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Senior Vice President of Patient Care and Operations at Spencer Hospital Brenda Tiefenthaler joined us for our Weekly Health Update to share what those in the area will begin to see.

Despite Mother Nature being less than cooperative through the winter and early Spring, Tiefenthaler says the project is still expected to take a little over a year to complete.

Those looking to utilize the driveway to Zylstra’s Chiropractic on East 11th Street can still do so, but the roadway is closed to traffic east of that point to 2nd Avenue West.
