Spencer, IA (KICD)– April is designated as National Donate Life Month and is noted as a time to raise awareness about organ donation and having more people register as donors.
Jen Dau is the Vice President of Nursing at Spencer Hospital and is the local representative for the Iowa Donor Network. She says there continues to be a need for various organs across the state in hopes of saving lives.
While many organ donations are made because the donor has passed away, Dau says there are also opportunities to be a living donor.
Those wanting to learn more about organ donation or to register as a donor can go to iowadonornetwork.org. Registering can also be as simple as checking the donor box when receiving or renewing a driver’s license.
