Aberdeen, SD (KICD)– A Southwest Minnesota man has been charged in a weekend shooting incident in South Dakota.
The Aberdeen Police Department received a call around 11:30 Saturday night of shots possibly having been fired in a central section of town. With the help of witnesses, officers were able to quickly locate a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident.
Further investigation determined the occupants had been at a local business and got into a confrontation with other patrons before a passenger reportedly produced and discharged a handgun as the suspect vehicle was leaving.
The person who is believed to have fired that weapon, 20-year-old Nickel Channoi of Worthington, has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and underage possession and consumption of alcohol.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible. No injuries were reported in the incident.
