Algona, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) – Several KICD 9-County Area Cross Country teams attended the Algona Invite on Monday. It was a highly competitive meet, featuring schools from Class 1A all the way up to 4A.

In the girl’s race, Mason City’s Brogan Evans ran a time of 19:54.33 to win. Humboldt’s Brynn Malo took 2nd with a time of 20:14.53. Bishop Garrigan of Algona’s Julia Swift was 3rd at 20:16, followed by Humboldt’s Avery fisher at 20:16.89 in 4th. In 5th was Ivy Ketelsen of Mason City with a time of 20:43.24.

Spencer was led by Minnie Matthiesen in 8th with a time of 21:07.35. Matthiesen was able to attack the hills, something she specializes in.

Rachel Schany led Emmetsburg with a time of 21:25.31 to place 9th. Schany is also doing Volleyball and decided to try Cross Country out for her Senior season after some success in the 800m Run in Track and Field.

Up front for Spirit Lake was Ella Beck with a time of 22:17.37.

Alexis Cummins fronted North Union with a time of 22:33.41.

Estherville Lincoln Central was led by a 37th place time of 23:29.12 from Hayden Armstead.

Maddie Fehr of West Bend-Mallard ran a time of 24:15.01 with a time of 24:15.01 to lead the Wolverines.

Pocahontas Area was led by Sawyer Storms with a time of 24:26.2 in 50th.

The Team Score was topped by Mason City with 44 points. Forest City was 2nd at 67 and Humboldt took 3rd at 90.

Spencer was 5th, Emmetsburg 8th, and Estherville Lincoln Central took 11th.

In the Boys race, Mason City’s Henry Hansen won with a time of 15:53.87, followed by Gavin Weber of Algona in 2nd with a time of 15J:59.27. 3rd was Silas Gan of Forest City with a time of 16:55.75. Spencer’s Rylie Koppie took 4th a t17:19.93 and Spirit Lake’s Jace Hungerford was 5th at 17:37.3.

Nolan McCusker of Spencer was also in the top 10 at 9th with a time of 17:48.49.

In 15th was Warren Duitsman, who led Estherville Lincoln Central with a time of 18:08.18.

Ade Thomas has been putting together some good runs lately for the Tigers. He took 18th at 18:23.98. Thomas says diet and mindset has been a big thing for his success lately.

Emmetsburg was led once again by Ben Cox’s time of 18:31.81.

Justin Shearer was 68th to lead Pocahontas Area at 20:28.38.

Forest City won the team score with 49 points, in 2nd was Clear Lake with 84 and Spencer took 3rd at 95. Spirit Lake finished 5th and North Unio was 14th.
