Okoboji, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The construction barricades on Highway 71 through the Iowa Great Lakes are down. A ribbon-cutting was held Friday afternoon, where Arnolds Park Mayor Jim Hussong expressed thanks to planners for their cooperation.

Okoboji Councilman Dan Sanders was similarly complimentary.

The project began under DOT Engineer Daken Schultz and wrapped up under the new district engineer Jessica Felix – who said the project was the first of its kind.

The plan had been to finish any loose ends of the Highway 71 rebuild in the spring of 2025. Felix says that will not be necessary.
