Estherville, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) – The Iowa Lakes Community College Aviation Program has achieved a significant milestone, successfully completing over 300 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) check rides since its reorganization in January 2020.

Andrew Barbee of Dubuque, Iowa, completed the 300th check ride on May 27, earning his Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certification. This accomplishment demonstrates the program’s rapid growth and success in training aviation professionals.

Students in the program train with a fleet of 18 aircraft, working towards various FAA certifications such as Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, and several instructor ratings. Graduates also earn an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree.

Alumni of the Iowa Lakes Aviation Program are well-prepared for careers in a wide range of aviation fields, including airline, corporate, military, and flight instruction.
