Des Moines, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says he was surprised along with everyone else when Governor Kim Reynolds announced she would NOT seek re-election in 2026. The Cylinder Republican was instantly mentioned as a potential candidate. George Bower put the question to the Secretary Friday morning on KICD-AM.

Naig was elected Ag Secretary in 2018 and 2022. Other potential candidates are Attorney General Brenna Bird and Congressman Zack Nunn.
