EMMETSBURG, IA (Northwestiowanow) — The Emmetsburg Main Street Community Theatre is bringing history to life this holiday season with its production of All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914.

The a cappella docu-musical tells the true story of World War I soldiers who laid down their arms on Christmas Eve to celebrate the holiday together.

Peggy Stolley with the theatre says the show is unlike a traditional musical.

The cast features 16 performers from across Northwest Iowa, including Spencer, Graettinger, and Emmetsburg. The production also honors those who have served.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission and can be reserved at mainstreetcommunitytheatre.com.

Stolley says the message of the show resonates deeply.
