Alta, IA (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Alta-Aurelia Middle School is one five in the state to be named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School, by the U.S. Department of Education. the program honors the nation’s best schools based on excellent student academic achievement and growth.
Superintendent Denny Olhausen received the news Monday morning.
Olhausen tells NorthwestIowaNow.com there is enough credit to go around.
Since 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools program has honored over 10,000 public and non-public schools. The U.S Department of Education accepts nominations from state directors of education and top education officials.
Joining Alta-Aurelia Middle School on the National Blue-Ribbon list in Iowa includes Rock Valley Elementary in Rock Valley Community School District, the high school in the Decorah Community School District, the middle school in the Nodaway Valley Community School District, and Rock Run Elementary in the Iowa Falls Community School District.
