Ames, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A restaurant in the KICD Broadcast area is in the running for the Iowa Beef Industry Council’s Best Burger contest this year. The ten finalists are selected by online voting, and Scooters on Main in Alta made the cut this time around.
It’s the only restaurant representing the entire Western half of the state. The other nine are all East of Interstate 35. Three have been finalists in previous contests: Arcadia from Polk City, Salsa Guy Cafe from Cedar Rapids, and Smash and Grab Burger Company from Knoxville.
The other six new nominees are: the B52 Bar and Grill in Bennett, Dixie’s Biergarten in Decorah, Northside Diner from Washington, Prairie Canary from Grinnell, TCI Bar and Grill – also in Polk City – and Landmark Bistro in Grundy Center. Prairie Canary – by the way – is operated by the same owner as Hometown Heroes in Grinnell – which won last year’s Best Breaded Tenderloin Contest sponsored by the Iowa Pork Producers.
The restaurants will now be judged by secret judges and the winner announced May 1st to kick off Beef Month in Iowa.
