Arnolds Park, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Architect drawing up plans for the new Arnolds Park City Complex says construction costs continue to spin out of control, and compressing the project into one phase will save money.
Councilman Mitch Watters from the building committee says the savings could be substantial.
The city council met in special session Thursday and voted unanimously to build the city hall, library, fire, and police departments at the same time. Watters says the search for temporary space will start immediately, as the new structure will sit where the current city building sits.
The scope of the project is limited to 15 million dollars and can be financed through Hotel / Motel Tax and money collected in a Tax Increment Financing District.
The city has not received bids yet, but Watters is optimistic work can begin yet this summer.
