Des Moines IA, (Northwest Iowa Now) — Iowa’s annual Back to School Tax Holiday returns this weekend. Human sciences specialist with Iowa State University Extension Outreach, Carol Ehlers says some items still will be taxed like athletic clothing backpacks and jewelry.

This will be one of the biggest weekends for family spending as well as sales for businesses in Iowa.

Ehlers recommends when it comes to back-to-school shopping to take inventory of what you may have at home, or you can start the school year with.

More information about the tax-free weekend for school supplies is available at the Iowa department of revenues website.
