Graettinger, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – GTRA and Newell-Fonda collided Friday night in Graettinger for 8-Player District 1 play.
The Mustangs struck first in the 1st quarter on a pick six by Tom Mercer.
In the 2nd, GTRA had a passing touchdown from Brooks Hansen to Brady Harris and a 59 yard touchdown run from Landon Dietrich, while Newell-Fonda forced a safety, and it was 14-9 in favor of the Titans going in to the half.
Offenses exploded in the 3rd quarter, as GTRA found the endzone 3 times while Newell-Fonda scored twice. The Titans led 34-23 going in to the final 12 minutes of action.
It was a dominant effort by GTRA in the 4th, scoring 20 unanswered down the stretch to win 54-23.
GTRA’s Landen Dietrich ran the ball 14 times for 111 yards and 3 Touchdowns in the win as GTRA improves to 2-2 on the year and will hit the road next week to play a tough North Union team.
Newell-Fonda will be back on the field next week at home against Harris-Lake Park, as the Mustangs and Wolves will each be searching for their first win.
