Storm Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Clay County woman charged with stealing items from an elderly patient earlier this year has reached a plea agreement with the Buena Vista County Attorney’s office.

42-year-old Shari Bents of Rossie was charged with stealing $100,000 worth of jewelry and coins from a Storm Lake resident she was caring for. The arrest was made after search warrants were simultaneously served on Bents’ home and locations in Albert City and Peterson.

The thefts were alleged to have ocurred between September 1st and October 24th.

Bents has now pled guilty to the felony of Adult Abuse and the theft charges have been dropped.

She’s due in court for sentencing on February 24th.
