Fonda, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Iowa State Patrol reports another car and train accident in the broadcast area.
This time a semi attempted to cross the tracks two miles West of Fonda Wednesday morning and was struck in the side. The truck wound up in a field and the driver was transported to the hospital in Buena Vista County with non-life-threatening injuries. He was also charged with failure to yield at a railroad crossing.
The train apparently was knocked off the tracks but none of the cars tipped over. Back on January 30th a semi trailer was cut in half by a train two miles West of Storm Lake. There were no injuries reported in that mishap.
