ESTHERVILLE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – Central Avenue was filled with flags, signs, and community spirit Thursday afternoon as Estherville residents gathered to send off local soldiers deploying overseas.

At approximately 2:00 PM, buses carrying troops departed the Estherville National Guard Armory, rolling past crowds of supporters lining the streets in a show of pride and appreciation.

The soldiers are heading to the Joint Readiness Training Center in Louisiana for two weeks of training before deploying to the Middle East as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Ahead of the deployment, Unit Commander Captain Tyler Kanaly spoke about the mission’s purpose.

The send-off served as a powerful show of unity and gratitude, with residents of all ages turning out to honor Estherville’s local heroes.
