Cherokee, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Cherokee hosted their inaugural Lighted Cross Country Meet Saturday Night.  The Varsity Races began at 7:45 along a course lit up by glowsticks and other lights.

Spencer’s Laynee Healey took 1st in the Girls Race with a time of 20:02.08.  The Tigers went 4 and 5 with Emerie Fullhart running 20:46.95 and Minnie Matthiesen 20:54.32.  Spirit Lake’s Ella Beck was 6th at 20:58.37.  Cecelia Burns was 8th for Spencer with a time of 21:41.32 and Cherokee’s Abby Walker took 9th at 21:41.69.

In the Girls Team Standings, Spencer won with 33 points, Manson-Northwest Webster was 2nd with 71, and Western Christian (Hl) took 3rd with 85.  Spirit Lake was 4th and Cherokee was 6th.

Spirit Lake’s Jace Hungerford won the boys race with 16:50.63 and Chidi Nwala took 2nd with a time of 17:35.71.  Okoboji’s JD Gravert took 4th at 17:41.49.  Spirit Lake had Titus Coates 5th at 17:51. Tyson Fear of Okoboji was 6th at 18:01.62.

For the Boys Team Standings, Spirit Lake won with 44 points, Okoboji was 2nd at 76, and Western Christian (Hl) was 3rd at 92.  Spencer took 6th and Cherokee was 7th.
