Sheldon, IA (NorthwestIowaNow) — A Cherokee woman is facing drug and public intoxication charges after a July 4 incident in Sheldon.
Sheldon Police were called around 6:15 p.m. Saturday for a report of a woman lying in a yard who appeared to be unconscious.
The woman was identified as 19-year-old Lucille Rose Salberg of Cherokee.
According to police, a passerby stopped to check on Salberg, gave her water and offered her a ride, but she declined assistance and left the area on foot.
The caller later noticed a vape device near where Salberg had been lying and reported it to authorities.
Officers subsequently located Salberg near the intersection of Ninth Street and Ninth Avenue. Police say she had a strong odor of alcohol, was swaying while standing, and admitted to consuming Jell-O shots.
According to the incident report, Salberg also admitted the vape device belonged to her and contained THC. The vape was recovered by law enforcement.
Salberg was arrested and charged with second-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and public intoxication.
