Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — The Clay County Assessor’s Office is working overtime to reassess property damaged in the flood. Danica Welsch tells Northwest Iowa Now they are soliciting all of the information owners can provide.
Welsch says they would more than happy to visit the property in person and are already making sidewalks surveys from the most heavily damaged portions of Spencer.
And a reminder that the property tax bills recently sent out are for last year’s valuations. The taxes calculated on post-flood values will be due in fall of 2026 and Spring of 2027.
