Everly, IA (northwestiowanow) — A Clay County farm family was surprised with a check and a year’s worth of free groceries Friday.

In collaboration with Farm Rescue, Spencer Hy-Vee presented Bill and Darcie Follon of rural Everly with $5,200 in Hy-Vee gift cards, providing the family with approximately a year’s worth of free groceries.

The gift stems from Hy-Vee’s “For the Farmer America 250” campaign, which honors farmers who have demonstrated resilience through hardship.

Darcie Follon says the recognition comes after a difficult stretch for their family.

During that time, Farm Rescue volunteers stepped in to help the family complete harvest work and other farm tasks, allowing them to focus on health concerns and family needs.

Bill Follon praised the organization’s support.

In addition to the grocery gift cards, the family also received Busch Light promotional items.
