Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — March is Kidney Disease Awareness month.

Spencer Hospital diabetes Management Educator Taylor Britton says early detection is key to avoiding kidney failure. Two key causes are diabetes, and high blood pressure. Luckily treatment is available locally in the event kidney failure does occur.

March 25th is the American Diabetes Association Alert Day where you’re encouraged to fill out an online questionnaire to assess your own risk.
