Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Clay County Heritage Center in Spencer is re-opened, after getting eighteen inches of flood water last June in their South Gallery. Located on Grand Avenue and Park Street, it was one of the first buildings impacted as the Little Sioux River started flooding June 22.

Clay County Heritage Executive Director Braden Faline says flooding impacted the lower gallery with the garage door to the south, closest to the river, and large artifact storage.

The Parker Museum’s entire basement flooded that day, as well.

After much clean up and hard work, the museums are now back open regular hours to visit, and for groups to visit. Currently the lower gallery has an expansive World War 1 display with local collections. Visit claycountyheritage.org for hours and more information.
