Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The Clay County Supervisors tapped Barry Anderson to serve as chairperson for the 2026 session during a meeting on Friday, January 2.
Anderson was elected in a unanimous vote, among the supervisors present, which included Anderson, Randy Swanson, Courtney DeLoss, Art Hamrick, and Allen Batschelet. The board also named Randy Swanson as chairperson-elect.
 In addition to the leadership elections, the board reappointed Cole Budach as the Clay County Engineer. This appointment grants Budach the authority to manage road projects, execute construction certificates, and implement local weight embargos on secondary roads as needed.

The supervisors also reappointed Dr. David Robison as the County Medical Examiner for a two-year term and named Michael Sundall as the Weed Commissioner for 2026.

Clay County Board of Supervisors meet again at 8:30 am Tuesday, January 6th, in regular session held in the county boardroom in Spencer.
