SHELDON, IA (Northwestiowanow) – Firefighters responded late Tuesday night to a cooler unit fire at Kent Feeds in Sanborn.
At approximately 11:12 p.m., Sheldon Fire was dispatched to the plant, located at 1500 RMT Avenue, following reports of a fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered smoke throughout the production area and traced the source to the second floor.
There, firefighters discovered a steel bin cooler — a component used in the plant’s production process — fully engulfed in flames. The unit is part of the facility’s post-processing system, though the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A swift response led to the fire being contained before it could spread further. No injuries were reported, and damage was limited to the affected equipment.
The Sanborn Fire Department also assisted Sheldon Fire Company in subduing the fire.
