Primghar, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) – The Primghar City Council has approved a plan to help the fire department purchase a new tanker truck, citing urgency as the vehicle’s price continues to rise.
At a city council meeting on September 9, Fire Chief Cory Crouch reported the tanker’s price is now $443,000. The purchase will be funded through a joint agreement with local townships and the city, with the fire department also making design changes to lower the cost to under $400,000.
The council also agreed to provide a short-term loan to the department, as the purchase will deplete its budget in fiscal year 2027. The new tanker is expected to be delivered in early 2027.
