Rock Rapids, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — One of the men convicted in the extensive vandalism to the Lyon County courthouse has been sentenced.
39-year-old Brandon High Pipe of Rapid City, South Dakota reached a plea deal with authorities in Iowa for the incident that occurred in December of 2025.
In exchange for guilty pleas of first-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree burglary, authorities dropped charged of reckless use of explosives, conspiracy to commit non-forcible entry, and willful disturbance.
He was sentenced to ten years for criminal mischief, and five years for each burglary charge for a total of twenty years.
18-year-old Luciano Sanchez of Denver, Colorado is scheduled for an online plea meeting September 23rd.
According to KICD News archives damage to the interior of the Lyon County courthouse was estimated at 36 thousand dollars. Both High Pipe and Sanchez were apprehended by alert authorities in West South Dakota just days after the incident and were transported back to Iowa to face prosecution.
