PALO ALTO COUNTY, IA (Northwestiowanow) – A single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in rural Palo Alto County resulted in multiple citations for a group of juveniles, including charges related to alcohol and marijuana possession.

On June 7, 2025, at approximately 2:03 a.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office of a crash that had occurred at the intersection of 580th Avenue and 430th Street.

An investigation revealed that a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe, owned by Lindsay Biddle of Fort Dodge, was being driven by a juvenile female. While traveling southbound on 580th Avenue, the driver failed to negotiate the turn onto 430th Street, causing the vehicle to enter the south ditch. The vehicle then struck a utility pole owned by West Bend Municipal Service, resulting in significant damage. The Hyundai was declared a total loss.

The juvenile driver was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, minor in possession of alcohol under the legal age, and possession of marijuana. Three additional juvenile passengers were also cited for minor in possession of alcohol under the legal age.
