Paullina, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Cleanup crews are expected in O’Brien County through next week after a piece of construction equipment struck a diesel fuel pipeline Wednesday afternoon, April 8. The incident was reported at 5:17pm a mile East of town at the Highway 10 and Roosevelt Avenue intersection. An undisclosed amount of fuel leaked into the soil and then spread through a drainage tile.

Responding agencies included: O’Brien County Emergency Management, Paullina and Granville Fire, The O’Brien County Sheriff’s and Secondary Road Departments, the Iowa DOT and One OK Hazardous Materials response team. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Agency, Iowa Homeland Security, and Iowa Department of Emergency Management were all notified.
