Okoboji, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Twenty-three non-profit organizations will share $111,000 from the Dickinson County Endowment Fund this year.

The grants ranged in size from one thousand dollars to $15,512 to Lakes Regional Healthcare to fit an ambulance with a hand-cap accessible “stair chair”. Other top awards are $15 thousand dollars for the Voluntary Action Center Meals on Wheels, $11 thousand dollars for a new floor at the Milford American Legion, and $10 thousand dollars to the Northwest Iowa Humane Society toward a van.

A good deal of the funds come from Dickinson County’s share of the state’s gaming revenue, but also private donations.
The organization says it has provided over $1.8 million dollars in community support in its nineteen years of existence.
