Spirit Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The director of the Great Lakes Sanitary Sewer is asking the Dickinson County Supervisors to consider sanitation issues before approving rural residential communities. Steve Anderson says there’s a history of construction and then a scramble to address water quality issues after the fact.

Anderson addressed the board recently when Toyshed LLC requested – and received – a zoning change on 39 acres currently zoned as agricultural use in the Frances Sites area.

Supervisors approved the zoning change 4 to 1. Steve Dullard was the lone “no” vote. Dullard and Supervisor Levi Markwardt volunteered to meet with the Sanitary Sewer District to discuss their concerns further.
