Des Moines, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Next Wednesday is the deadline for eligible homeowners to apply for funds from the Disaster Recovery Housing Assistance Program set up by Governor Reynolds following the flood.

Each recipient is eligible for up to fifty thousand dollars to help in the rehabilitation of their property. Fifteen million dollars has been allocated with grants to be reviewed in the order the applications are submitted.

The state program addresses unmet housing recovery needs not covered by private insurance or FEMA. Applicants must be registered for FEMA Individual Assistance before eligibility kicks in.

Structures must be located in one of the presidentially declared disaster areas which include: Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, O’Brien, Osceola, and Palo Alto counties here in the KICD Broadcast area.
