The Iowa DOT is hosting a come-and-go public meeting April 28th concerning the construction of a new roundabout at the north junction of U.S. Highway 18 and U.S. Highway 71, on the north edge of Spencer. The meeting next Monday is from 4 to 6 p.m. at Spencer City Hall. DOT Planner Sarah Tracy with the Iowa DOT District 3 Office says the goal of the project is to improve safety at that location.
DOT staff will be on hand to share information about the roundabout and answer any questions from the public. Be aware that the project will require a detour during construction, which is currently expected to begin in the spring of 2027 and wrap up in the fall of that same year.
So, if you live in Spencer, travel that way, or just want to learn more, plan to stop by Spencer City Hall on Monday, April 28th between 4 and 6 p.m. to get the details and share your thoughts with the Iowa DOT.
