Emmetsburg, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — While construction of a new elementary school in Emmetsburg got a slight majority, it needed a 60 percent super majority for passage. There were 1,247 yes votes, and 1,211 no.
Superintendent Cory Jennes tells Northwestiowanow.com the school board intends to regroup and attempt passage again next November.
Jennes says staff will make the best of things in the 60-year-old West Building, but the district wants to avoid putting any major investment into it.
The proposed bond issue was for 29.75 million dollars.
