Emmetsburg, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — An Emmetsburg woman arrested in the death of a toddler in her care back in 2023 has changed her plea in Palo Alto County District Court.

31-year-old Hannah Priest has now plead guilty to child endangerment resulting in death.

A 23-month-old child was found unresponsible on a cot in the daycare setting provided by Priest and passed away later at a Des Moines Hospital. An autopsy determined the death was the result of a brain trauma.  Authorities prosecuting the case say Priest at first denied any knowledge of abuse that would have caused the trauma, but later said she forced the child onto the cot at naptime.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 9th.
