Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Elected officials and members of the Emergency Services community say the relatively new EMS levy available to counties corrects a long-time oversite in the state of Iowa. Communities up until now have relied on volunteers for first-aid and medical transports.
Clay County Sheriff Chris Raveling – himself a volunteer EMT – says the public can resolve the problem by voting for a new levy in the November election.
Raveling says they’re having difficulty ascertaining exactly how much money will come in each year.
Up to 75 cents per thousand dollars assessed valuation would be collected each year, or about 71 dollars on a 200 thousand dollar home.
