Estherville, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Estherville City Council will be one member short until the General Election. Monday night was Third Ward Councilman Dave Seylar’s last meeting as he’s moving outside of the ward.

The city council could have appointed a replacement, called a special election, or – as City Manager Penny Clayton explains – since it’s so close to the regular election they can just leave the seat vacant.  Either of the other options would have meant the new council member would serve well UNDER 90 days.

The filing period opens August 25th.
