Estherville, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) – The Estherville Junior High and High School Rodeo is this weekend at the Emmet County Fairgrounds, marking nearly a 40 year tradition in the community.

Iowa High School Rodeo Association National Director Dave Eberline

Over 200 student-athletes from Iowa and surrounding states are competing for points to go toward the State Finals June 5-6-7 in Bloomfield, Iowa and a shot at the National Team.

There’s a good chance there will be some cowboy hats around Estherville Friday May 1 through May 3, and Eberline says the event brings a major economic boost to the city.

The rodeo action begins at noon on Friday with cutting and reined cow horse events. The main performances follow on Saturday at 10:30 am and Sunday at 9:30 am. Admission is free to the public, and concessions are hosted by the Estherville Saddle Club. Find more information by clicking this link.
