Estherville, IA (KICD) — Estherville needs a new mayor. Again. Downtown business owner AJ Edwards was elected in Novemember and took office in January. Now he purchased a new home outside of city limits and had to resign.
Citing the expense of a special election, the city council decided to appoint a replacement at their last meeting and solicited interest. Two individuals came forward: Former Mayor Kenny Billings, whose most recent term was also as an appointee after an elected mayor moved away; and Paul Radmaker, who ran for mayor in the last election and received 134 votes. The council has the appointment of a new mayor on tonight’s agenda.
Edwards – by the way – has filed now to run for the Emmet County board of Supervisors as an independent in the General Election this fall.
