ESTHERVILLE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – The City of Estherville is rallying residents to help make this year’s RAGBRAI stop unforgettable, as riders roll into town on Monday, July 21st.

City Administrator Penny Clayton is encouraging residents to take a few moments this week to tidy up their properties in preparation for the thousands of cyclists expected to pass through.

The city has also been working behind the scenes to ensure public spaces reflect Estherville’s welcoming spirit.

In addition to the cleanup effort, the Emmet County Honor Flight Veterans will be stationed at the intersection of A20 and 375th Avenue to greet riders as they arrive. No registration is required for veterans to participate. Just bring a lawn chair and wear your Honor Flight shirt and hat.

Clayton says the idea may have been inspired by a neighboring community.

The Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit that flies veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials dedicated to their service, will also benefit from a RAGBRAI donation to support future flights for Iowa veterans.

With thousands of visitors expected, Estherville is seizing the opportunity to showcase its community pride, scenic charm, and deep appreciation for those who’ve served.
