Orleans, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Four lake restoration projects by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources should be done this fall.
Biologist Mike Hawkins says the effort at Silver Lake in Dickinson County has taken multiple years.
An easier project aimed at eradicating invasive fish from West Swan Lake so the native population can thrive should be relatively easy.
And there are two projects East of East Lake Okoboji aimed at regulating water flow into the big lake.
Earlier this summer the Iowa DNR announced plans to reintroduce paddlefish to the Okoboji chain. Hawkins tells Northwestiowanow.com stocking operations took place over several days earlier this month.
