Spencer, IA (Norhtwest Iowa Now) — The Spencer Street and Fire Department was at the tree dump at 33 hundred 210th avenue for ten hours Thursday putting out a fire in the stump pile. The facility was closed to the public for the duration and will be re-evaluation for opening this morning.

The fire department got there shortly after 11:30 and remained on the scene until around 7:15. Assistant fire chief Mark Stover tells us the fire department attacked the blaze with water while street department employees used two loaders to pull the pile apart. The cause is unknown at this time.
