Estherville, IA (Northwestiowa.com) — The Fire Chief from Estherville says a home fire was headed off Saturday night because he had access to working fire extinguishers. Travis Sheridan arrived ahead of his crew at 327 West 5th Avenue North on the report of a vehicle fire right next to the residence.

Sheridan says it should be a lesson to the public that extinguishers are important.

The fire occurred around 9:30 Saturday night. The Estherville Fire crew was at the scene for about an hour making sure the house was safe.
