Humboldt, IA (Northwestiowanow) – A former teacher from the Humboldt Community School District, has pleaded guilty to child exploitation charges.

Samantha A. Meyer-Davis, 32, of Humboldt, admitted to engaging in a sexual relationship with a female underage student and producing explicit content between May 2022 and November 2023.

Rumors about the relationship surfaced in the fall of 2022, prompting district administrators to question Meyer-Davis multiple times. A formal complaint was filed with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office in September 2023, leading to an investigation. The investigation uncovered explicit text messages, photos, and videos involving Meyer-Davis and the student.

Initially charged at the state level with third-degree sexual abuse and sexual exploitation by a school employee, Meyer-Davis turned herself in to authorities in February 2024. The case was later transferred to federal court, where she now faces a prison sentence ranging from 210 to 288 months.
