CLAY COUNTY, IA (Northwestiowanow) – A Fort Dodge man was arrested Saturday evening on drug-related charges following a traffic stop in rural Clay County.

At approximately 8:00 PM Saturday night, a Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop near the 3000 mile marker of 310th Avenue. The vehicle was driven by Briggs Sandven, 25, of Fort Dodge.

During the stop, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed that Sandven was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

He faces charges of possession of a controlled substance – marijuana, which is classified as a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Sandven was arrested and transported to the Clay County Jail.
