Iowa DNR (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Iowa’s Free Fishing Weekend returns next Friday June 5th through Sunday June 7th. For three days, residents can fish any public water without a license or trout fee.
While fees are waived, all other DNR regulations, including size, equipment and daily bag limits, remain in place. Locally, two Northwest Iowa counties are hosting hands-on events Saturday, June 6th. In Emmet County, a youth free fishing day runs from 10 am to 1 pm at Jordet’s Pond in Estherville. The first 50 kids score a free rod and reel combo.
Buena Vista County Conservation is hosting a free program on June 6th, as well, from 9 am to 11 am at Gabrielson Park’s Gustafson Lake, in Sioux Rapids. Gear loaners and supplies will be provided. To find out more, visit IowaDNR.GOV
