Spencer, Ia (KICD) – It was another exciting night of Football accross the KICD 9-County Area. This is your KICD Friday Football Wrap Up.
At Dale Norton Field in Spencer, the Tigers hosted Class 2A #2 Spirit Lake. News Radio 102.5 and AM 1240 KICD had the call.
There was no stopping Spirit Lake’s Caden Lundt and Dylan Stecker in the 1st Quarter.
Spirit Lake started with a Lundt 51 yard Touchdown Pass to Dylan Stecker, making it 7-0 after the Will Ditsworth PAT was good.
After a stop on the next Spencer drive, Lundt found Dylan Stecker again on a 5 yard Touchdown Pass after a 9 play 66 yard drive, making it 14-0 after the PAT.
Lundt would pick up a rushinging Touchdown in the 2nd quarter of 3 yards, making the score 21-0.
The Tigers would get on the board late in the 2nd quarter. Cael Bruning linked up with Tommy Lauck on a 4th down and Goal, making it a 21-7 game after Brady Vreeman hit the PAT.
The Spencer defense was able to stiffen up in the 3rd quarter, holding Spirit Lake to only a couple of Field goals by Will Ditsworth of 20 and 30 yards. Spirit Lake led 24-7 going in to the 3rd Quarter.
Spencer Would turn it over on all 3 of their 4th Quarter possesions, which Spirit Lake would turn in for Touchdowns twice, a Lundt Touchdown pass to Ethan Stecker, and a Will Ditsworth run, making 41-7, which would be the final score.
Caden Lundt tossed 3 Touchdowns with an interception and 282 yards. Dylan Stecker caught 7 passes for 110 yards and a Touchdown while Ethan Stecker brought in 6 balls for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Spencer was led by Miles Robbins’ 97 yards on the ground.
Spencer falls to 1-2 on the year and will travel to Sioux Center next week while Spirit Lake improves to 2-1 and will host Forest City to open up 2A District 2 play.
On Big Country 107.7 was a Class A District 1 battle in Paullina as South O’Brien hosted Sibley-Ocheyedan.
The Wovlerines scored first on a 9-yard Touchdown pass by Brady Riedemann to Brody Van Beek to make it 7-0 after the Derek Paulsen PAT was succesful.
Sibley-Ocheyedan answered late in the 1st quarter on a 22 yard Touchdown run by Kayne Julius, tying the game at 7.
The Generals would take the lead on a Hunter Kauffman 19 yard Touchdown run to cap off a 90 yard drive.
South O’Brien was able to score with 5:05 left in the 2nd quarter when Paulsen found Brady Riedemann on a 50 yard Tocuhdown Pass. The extra point was missed, so Sibley-Ocheyedan stayed out in front 14-7.
The two teams would trade kickoff returns for touchdowns then with Kauffman taking the South O’Brien kick 65 yards to the house, followed by Van Beek returning the Sibley-Ocheyedan kick 75 yards. Sibley-Ocheyedan’s PAT was good and South O’Brien was unnable to convert the 2-point, and the Generals led 21-19 going in to the half.
After the wild 2nd quarter, it was a very quite second half. Sibley-Ocheyedan grew their lead to 9 with a Touchdown and extra point when Julius tossed a 12 yard Touchdown Pass to Tanner Gries.
South O’Brien was able to score with 6:45 left in the game on a Derek Paulsen 26 yard field goal, but that would be all the Wolverines could muster, and Sibley-Ocheyedan picked up the 28-22 win.
Kayne Julius rushed for 83 yards and a Touchdown while throwing for 162 yards and a Touchdown in the win for the Generals. His Top Target was Dawson Kreykes who snagged four passes for 108 yards.
After a 2-1 start to the season and 2-0 start in District play, Sibley-Ocheyedan will host Alta-Aurelia next week for homecoming.
South O’Brien is now 0-3 and will try to pick up win #1 next week when they host MMCRU.

In Non-District Play, West Bend-Mallard lost to 8-Player #4 St. Mary’s of Remsen 49-8, 1A #4 Emmetsburg rolled over Sheldon 55-14, Sioux Central beat Lawton-Bronson 20-10, Pocahontas was shut out by Western Christian of Hull 35-0, 2A #10 Cherokee topped Ridge View 25-13, Estherville Lincoln Central fell to 3A #3 Algona 34-12, and Okoboji was routed by MOC-Floyd Valley 35-14.
For 8-Player District 1, Newell-Fonda lost to Woodbine 72-6.
8-Player District 2 had Harris-Lake Park get past Northwood-Kensett 35-25 and GTRA rolled over Rockford 74-24.
In Class A District 1, Alta-Aurelia dropped to Gehlen Catholic of LeMars 35-6 and MMCRU shut out Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 44-0.
For Class A District 2, North Union fell short to Belmond-Klemme 15-12.
